Melbournian Cee relocated to Canada back in 2010 after he was signed to blogger Kevin Nottingham’s HiPNOTT Records label, in an effort to put himself and his brother Notion in the best possible position to succeed. And it worked. His 2013 debut EP ‘Steps To The Peak’ hit #1 on CJLO AM’s Hip Hop Charts – twice – while his debut album ‘This Is All I Know’ reached #6 in Canada and #8 in Australia on the iTunes Hip Hop Charts on the release day. Not a bad effort for an MC still going through immigration.
The album’s credits read like a who’s who of Hip Hop – an extraordinarily impressive lineup put together by a kid from Australia, and on his debut album no less. Production comes courtesy of the Grammy nominee Illmind (Kanye West, 50 Cent, Eminem), Hezekiah (The Roots, Bilal), the multi-platinum ARIA winning Aussie Styalz Fuego (360, Busta Rhymes, Snoop Dogg), Germany’s Shuko (Blu, R.A. The Rugged Man), Australian stalwart Jase, Alaiz’s Dr. MaD and more. As far as the features, Cee brought in the legendary Ras Kass, Emilio Rojas, Hezekiah, two-time Grammy nominee Jonathan Emile, The Movement Fam‘s Notion and Tommy Gunnz, Chaundon, Toronto soulstress Aria Zenua, iLLvibe and The Lessondary Crew’s Jermiside to help him out. He even included ‘BrewHeads’, the world’s first craft beer song created in conjunction with Phoenix, AZ craft beer merch company BrewHeads.
