Love Story - Yelawolf
Love Story

Yelawolf’s second studio album under Shady Records. It’s easily Yela’s most experimental and unique album, combining his adept technical rap skills with a focus on rock and country sounds. He sings extensively on the album, and even produces some records himself. Yelawolf explained the record was inspired by his time in jail, and the death of his great-grandmother. The Eminem featuring “Best Friend” is the hip hop highlight of the album, with Yela providing a softly spoken backdrop for Eminem to lay lyrical waste to his competition, whilst shouting out his deceased best mate Proof. Despite being his least commercially accessible work, the album did relatively well, peaking at number 3 on the US Billboard 200 and selling 58,000 copies first week. Unfortunately, it wasn’t blessed with a huge amount of replay value, and the album seems to have been largely forgotten by the press.
