Limp Bizkit’s 4th LP, released in 2003, it features the guitarist from Snot, Mike Smith, in place of founding member Wes Borland, which left the band at that time. However, during the recording process a dispute arose with Smith and some of the work he recorded was removed.
The album was a chart success, selling 325,000 copies in its first week, before reaching 1.5 million by 2016. It debuted at number 3 on the Billboard 200, and single “Eat You Alive” made number 16 on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. Despite decent sales, the album was a commercial flop compared to its multi-platinum selling predecessors.
Higher praise was reserved for third single “Behind Blue Eyes,” a cover of the famous track by The Who. It made it to number 71 on the Billboard Hot 100, but was a smash internationally, reaching the top 10 in 13 countries.
The title of the record was changed multiple times, with Bipolar and Panty Sniffer, among others, discarded.
The band were joined by some heavyweight collaborators during the process, including members of Weezer and Ministry. The album was critically panned and is often cited on the Internet as the fans' least liked album because of Wes' temporary departure.
