I Don’t Want: The Gold Fire Sessions is the second mixtape by Santigold, released on July 27, 2018 via Downtown Records.
Much of the mixtape was recorded with Dre Skull during her pregnancy in July 2017 prior to moving from New York to Los Angeles. The closing song, “Gold Fire”, was said by Santi to have been recorded “the week before [she] was due.” Notably, the album was released without any formal announcement, the sole teaser from Santigold being a cryptic tweet announcing the release of new material the Saturday prior:
The album sees Santi exploring dancehall and returning to the reggae-fusion and ska sound of her self-titled debut; the songs are also sequenced so that they seamlessly transition. It also features a collaboration–“Don’t Blame Me”–with Jamaican dancehall artist, Shenseea.
