Soul Parade - Cherokee (R&B)
Soul Parade

Soul Parade is the as-yet-unreleased sophomore album of R&B singer/songwriter, musician, producer, and model Cherokee Pogue. The set was due for release on March 19, 2002. Her solo debut I Love You… Me got her foot in the door, but she was just starting to make her mark with high profile collaborations with Andre 3000 and an endorsement deal with Gap. The funk-heavy album puts Cherokee’s distinct voice and personality up front on confident tracks like the wind-in-your-hair opener “Runaway” and the paternal day-of-reckoning “Daddy How.” However, record company instability as her contract was shuffled from RCA Records to Arista Records resulted in Soul Parade being shelved. It’s too bad, because the buzzworthy album was already gaining critical acclaim with the release of its lead singles “I Swear” and “Nectarine” around 2002. Fortunately, an RCA promo sampler and subsequent leaks made the album available to fans. Cherokee even self-released a limited number of CD copies of the album independently.
