THE YOUNG BLACK $CHOLAR TAPE was recorded in the summer of 2017. The 8-track, 4-skit project is an ode to GHO$TMAMBA’s 4 year tenure at East Stroudsburg University. As a hyper-active, inner city kid, GHO$T had to adjust to the rural campus life of college. He describes the beginning portion of the project as his “youngboul days”, just living his life as a free teenager. Tracks like “FiRE” & “CRA$H” give glimpses of a fun, flashy lifestyle. While the latter half of the project, beginning with “CATCH THAT DREAM”, shows maturity & begins to tell the story of what GHO$T learned from the first half of the tape. The theme of the project is track “YOUNG BLACK $CHOLAR”, gives an overall view on the social issues and frustrations GHO$T had to deal with. He ends the project with “LOYALTY”, summing up what means the most to the young MC. “I’m just living my life, its loyalty all on this side/And they hitting my line but half the time I don’t respond” “I feel like if you didn’t get the chance to listen all the way through my story, you’re not loyal enough to enjoy this song.
