Gang Starr’s third album once again combined Guru’s monotone vocals over jazzy boom bap beats courtesy of DJ Premier. This album marked the debuts of Gang Starr Foundation members Jeru The Damaja and Lil Dap from the Group Home on the multi-instrumental track “I’m the Man.” This was also the first Gang Starr album engineered by Eddie Sancho, who Premier worked with on a number of productions in the following years.
The album was supported by the singles “Ex Girl To Next Girl” and “Take It Personal,” which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot Rap Singles chart. Daily Operation received critical acclaim, including a spot on The Source’s list of the Top 100 Rap Albums of All Time.
