Hitler On Steroids is the fifth mixtape by Westside Gunn, released on March 8, 2017 through Griselda Records and Shady Records as a DatPiff exclusive, and hosted by DJ Green Lantern, who is also the producer for most of the (original) tracks. It is the first project since Gunn, along with his brother Conway, signed a deal with Shady Records on March 3 of the same year—just five days prior.
The album features a collection of old songs from Gunn’s Hitler Wears Hermes series, as well as songs from FLYGOD, and one song, “Pissy Work,” from There’s God, Then There’s FLYGOD, Praise Both. These are the ten new tracks (including the intro) on Hitler on Steroids:
“Green Lantern Intro”
“Fish Freestyle”
“Looking Like the Greatest”
“Hi-Top Ricky Freestyle”
“100000 Machine Gunz”
“Summerslam 88”
“Lord”
“Stoves”
“Nasty (DJ Green Lantern Remix)”
“Laura”
The mixtape received generally positive reviews from critics. Users of HotNewHipHop gave it a rating of “HOTTTTT” (65%), while the editors gave a “VERY HOTTTTT” rating. XXL gave it a positive review, stating:
As of 2017, the Buffalo MC has remained humble but is still ready to stamp his name in the rap game as one of the best newcomers. This is his second studio effort in a two month span. Who knows what else Westside Gunn has cooking for 2017. With two projects under his belt and a brand new deal with Shady Records in only a three month time span, it’s safe to assume that there is definitely more where that came from.
