Body of the Life Force

Afu-Ra
Body of the Life Force was the anticipated debut album by Gang Starr Foundation member Afu-Ra, after appearing on many features, especially on fellow member Jeru the Damaja’s The Sun Rises in the East and Wrath of the Math, after releasing 4 singles before the album’s release, Whirlwind Thru Cities (1998, produced by DJ Roach and DJ Premier), Equality and Bring It Right (1999, produced by DJ Premier, Bring It Right produced by P. King), Defeat (produced by DJ Premier), and D&D Soundclash (produced by Beatminerz featuring Smif-N-Wessun.)
The album would feature production by big name producers like DJ Premier, producing a good chunk of the album, Cypress Hill’s DJ Muggs, Da Beatminerz, and Wu-Tang affiliate True Master.
Body of the Life Force was also one of the first hip-hop albums on Koch Records.
Body of the Life Force would chart 32 on the Billboard’s US Indie Albums, 42 on the top R&B and Hip Hop albums, and 183 on the 200.
After 12 years, Afu-Ra would release a sequel to Body of the Life Force, featuring Sean Price, M.O.P., Brand Nubian’s Sadat X, Detroit’s Guilty Simpson, Nine, and Vinnie Paz.
