Comeback Season is the second mixtape by Canadian recording artist Drake, released on October 24, 2007, under his October’s Very Own label. The lead single of the mixtape, Replacement Girl, featuring Trey Songz, became a hit and the music video for it was featured as “New Joint of the Day” on BET. At the time of the mixtape’s release, Drake was still an independent artist, without having a contract with a major label. Furthermore, Drake himself has stated that at the time recording labels were facing difficulties upon marketing him and his sound. However, that didn’t stop him from creating a local buzz in his hometown, Toronto, (also known as “The 6”), which later would evolve into international recognition with his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone.
Comeback Season’s album cover was designed by Toronto artist and founder of Legends League, Bryan Espiritu.
