Restricted 18+ Madlib Medicine Show, No. 13: Black Tape is a secret bonus tape as well as the final tape of Madlib’s Medicine Show series. It is a follow up of remixes to Madlib Medicine Show, No. 12: Raw Medicine (Madlib Remixes). The album is a compilation of hip-hop remixes of MCs such as Nas, Common, Eminem, 50 Cent, GZA and MF DOOM, and all are rapping over beats produced by Madlib. The album is 60-minutes long containing 35 tracks, 9 of them being interludes, with the psychedelic, obscure, and experimental sound. The CD release had been delayed due to an issue with multiple printing presses who refused to print the artwork for the album. The artwork is heavily explicit as it showcases two malformed naked female bodies which have been described by people as “mutant porn”. The artwork had been printed by an offshore printing press which specialized in “fringe adult publications” and it lead to the album being released on March 1, 2012. The album can also be heard on the B-side of the Filthy Ass Remix vinyl, although, only a portion of it (around 20-minutes) can be heard on the LP.
