H.E.R., Vol. 1 is H.E.R.’s debut EP. Utilising only one song with features—“Focus (Remix)”, which features Chris Brown and DJ Envy—the EP cemented H.E.R.’s mysterious nature, so much that artists like Alicia Keys shared the EP via Twitter, alongside Wyclef Jean, who also tweeted the project. The EP features seven cuts including her take on Drake’s “Jungle” from his album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late. The project did well in the charts, peaking at #12 on the Billboard Hot 100 R&B Albums chart, #28 on the Billboard Hot 100 R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #8 on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. It also found success on iTunes, peaking at #38 on the US Albums chart. H.E.R., Vol. 1’s only single, “Focus”, also did extremely well, going platinum in 2019 and peaking at number one on the Billboard US Adult R&B Songs chart, marking itself as H.E.R.’s first-ever number one song.
