Following the success of her debut album Songs in A Minor, The Diary of Alicia Keys continued her successful run, becoming her second straight album to debut at the top of the Billboard 200 with more than 600,000 copies sold. The album was preceded by the hit single “You Don’t Know My Name”, which she produced with Kanye West. The song topped Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for eight consecutive weeks and peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It went on to win a Grammy Award for Best R&B Song in 2004.
The album’s second single, “If I Ain’t Got You”, also topped the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, and a remix of the song was later produced as a duet with Usher. “Diary” and “Karma” were also released as singles. The album was featured on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Definitive 200 Albums list.
