Pusha-T’s third studio album is the follow up to 2015’s King Push – Darkness Before Dawn: The Prelude. The album was released on May 25, 2018. Originally titled King Push, the title was later changed to DAYTONA during the week prior to its release. Pusha-T revealed that DAYTONA represents ‘the luxury of time,’ a reference to the Rolex Daytona, which is Pusha’s favorite watch. Furthermore, Pusha elaborated that the “music comes from a real place every time” and that the album is for “high taste level, luxury, drug raps fans.” The album, which is meant to be his “proclamation of king,” has previously been described by Pusha as ‘amazing’ and ‘second to none.’ He has also declared it will be ‘album of the year’ on several occasions. In comparison to the album’s prelude, Pusha had said: King Push, on the other hand, I have to say that it has a few more colors, a little bit of diversity. DAYTONA was the first album in a five-album series of releases executively produced by Kanye West. It was followed by Kanye’s solo album ye, Kanye & Kid Cudi’s collaborative album KIDS SEE GHOSTS, Nas‘ NASIR, and Teyana Taylor’s K.T.S.E.
