Leading up to the release of his highly-anticipated debut album, on December 17th, 2015, Austin Mahone dropped a 19-track mixtape for free on his SoundCloud and YouTube pages, cleverly titled, This Is Not The Album. It include collaborations with Chris Brown, T-Pain, Sage the Gemini, Kalin and Myles, and Austin’s ex-girlfriend, Becky G. In November, 2015, in an interview with TeenVogue, Austin revealed that he was planning the mixtape and described the project as having a “new style, something you haven’t heard from me before.” On December 14th, 2015—two days before its release—Austin announced the project to his fans on his Facebook page, explaining that he feels he’s gotten better at what he loves to do and the collection is meant to hold his fans over until his debut album is out.
