On August 12, 2011, a 22 year old G-Eazy—fresh out of Loyola University—released The Endless Summer. The mixtape showed off G’s unique production style and timeless music taste, by sampling 60s era songs, such as the 1961 US No. 1 hit “Runaround Sue” by Dion.
These throwback samples, along with G’s laid back verses—with aspirations of living an “Endless Summer” of sorts by making music for a living—made the mixtape a hit.
