Taking the Long Way is the seventh studio album by American country music group The Chicks (Formerly known as Dixie Chicks), released on May 23, 2006 via Columbia Nashville. The album marks their final under the name Dixie Chicks. The album was a massive commercial success on the charts, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 with 526,000 copies during its first week of U.S. sales. The album marked their first best selling first week sales since 2002’s “Home” debuted with 780,000.
At the 2007 GRAMMY Awards, the trio received five Grammy awards, which included Album of the Year and Best Country Album, along with Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal for their single “Not Ready to Make Nice”.
