Run The Jewels 2 is the second album by Run The Jewels. It is the follow-up to their self-titled debut album. Set for release on October 28, 2014, the album was released for free on their website four days prior. The album was released on iTunes on October 25, 2014, and the iTunes release featured a bonus track.
To promote the album, Run The Jewels released Blockbuster Night, Pt. 1 as the first single on September 2, 2014. Oh My Darling Don’t Cry was released on September 30, 2014. The Zack de la Rocha-assisted “Close Your Eyes (And Count to Fuck)” was released on October 13, 2014.
Upon release, Run The Jewels 2 was met with critical acclaim. As of June 2020, the album sits at an 89% score on Metacritic, while popular YouTube music critic Anthony Fantano rewarded the album with an 8/10 score. The album was praised by critics for its thought-provoking lyricism and mind-boggling production, among other things.
