Angus & Julia Stone is the self-titled, third full-length album by Australian singer-songwriter duo Angus & Julia Stone. Its release was preceded by the singles “Heart Beats Slow”, “Death Defying Acts”, “A Heartbreak” and “Grizzly Bear”. The videos for all four songs as well as for the fifth single “Get Home” were directed by Jessie Hill, who would become a current collaborator of the siblings.
American Record producer Rick Rubin helped reunite the duo and co-produced the album. Rubin said of the experience:
This album is extraordinary; Angus and Julia are truly unique musicians. They are authentic and pure people who do things from the heart. I’ve never worked with anyone like them before."
Angus & Julia Stone became the highest charting record of the duo until then, reaching the top 10 in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, New Zealand and Netherlands. In Australia, the album was their second one to top the ARIA Charts. By the time of its released, it was certified Platinum in Australia and Gold in France, which indicates sales of more than 70 and 50 thousand copies, respectively.
