The Calm Before the Storm: Part 1 - Tech N9ne
The Calm Before the Storm: Part 1

“The Calm Before the Storm: Part 1” is the debut studio album by Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne. The album was released to the KC underground on November 9th 1999, and was produced mainly by Don Juan, who would go on to produce most of Tech’s next album, The Worst. This album features a mainly G-funk inspired sound, with raps mainly about partying and being a gangsta. The album sounds very different from a lot of Tech’s subsequent releases, and the features sound different as well. The track “Mitch Bade” was originally released as a single in 1996, along with the song “Cloudy-Eyed Stroll”, a remix of which appears on here. The song “Questions (Rough Draft)” was originally on the Gang Related Soundtrack in 1997. In 2016, 17 years after the release of this album, Tech released a sequel of sorts, titled “The Storm”.
