The Coming - Busta Rhymes
The Coming

Following his departure from Leaders of the New School and providing several acclaimed guest appearances, Busta Rhymes released his debut album The Coming on March 26, 1996 through Elektra Records. The Coming finds Busta balancing a subdued style on tracks like “Hot Fudge” with his trademark animated style on songs such as “Abandon Ship.” He also brought in a number of guests with appearances from Q-Tip, Redman, Keith Murray, the Flipmode Squad, and even a reunion with his Leaders of the New School crew on “Keep It Movin'.” One song that didn’t make the cut was the J. Dilla-produced track “The Ugliest” due to shots being taken at 2Pac in the verse of The Notorious B.I.G. The album achieved platinum status after peaking at #6 on the Billboard 200 and topping the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with support from the singles “Woo Hah!! Got You All in Check” and “It’s a Party” with Zhané.
