NASIR - Nas
NASIR

NASIR is the eleventh studio album by legendary rapper Nas, released on June 15, 2018. Its premiere was livestreamed underneath the Queensboro Bridge in Queens, New York, where Nas is from. Nas hasn’t released an album since 2012’s Life Is Good, making this his first release after a six-year hiatus. Even though Nas' 9th studio album, Untitled, had originally been called Nigger, it is often officially referred to as Nas. Therefore, NASIR could technically be considered Nas' second eponymously titled album. NASIR is the fourth album in a five-album series of releases entirely produced by Kanye West, following Pusha-T’s DAYTONA, Kanye’s solo album ye, and Kanye & Kid Cudi’s collaborative album KIDS SEE GHOSTS. It was succeeded by Teyana Taylor’s K.T.S.E. Kanye tweeted the album’s potential tracklist scrawled on a whiteboard, in a similar fashion as his tracklist unveiling for both Pusha T’s and his own album. On June 11, 2018, Kanye published a since-deleted tweet showing Urban Dictonary’s definition of the “Seven Deadly Sins.” It has been theorized that each song on NASIR correlates to one of these so-called “capital vices.” Although the final track listing is not in the same traditional order, they match up conceptually: “Not For Radio” – Pride “Cops Shot the Kid” – Wrath “White Label” – Gluttony “Bonjour” – Lust “Everything” – Greed “Adam and Eve” – Sloth “Simple Things” – Envy Note that the Kanye-previewed song order was a lot closer to the original order of the sins.
