The Mirror - Ja Rule
The Mirror

The Mirror was released as a mixtape in July 2009, although it was originally intended to be a fully-fledged album. In 2007 the singles “Uh-Ohhhh!” and “Body” were released to a poor reception, and Ja fought to have the record released during Murder Inc’s public legal troubles. Despite their assets having been frozen, Lil Wayne appeared on “Uh-Ohhhh!” and Ja found money for features from The Game, Gwen Stefani and Ashley Joi. Ja was vocal surrounding the albums release: The album was leaked already so I’m really just putting it out there for the people who didn’t really get a chance to hear it. There’s some extra records on there that I put on there that I didn’t necessarily record for The Mirror and there are a couple of records that were recorded for The Mirror but didn’t leak. I have conversations with myself. I talk to the guy in the mirror. He never answers back; it’s always the same guy that asks the questions and answers the questions…But the funny thing about that is, it’s your moment of truth. You can’t lie to yourself. And I’m sitting there and I’m looking in the mirror, and I’m saying to myself … ‘This person you see in the mirror…you know who this person is, you know him very well. But is this the same person that your public sees when you walk outside? No. They don’t have a clue who the f— that person is in that mirror.
