Urban Rapsody, released on October 14, 1997, became the last album Rick James released prior to his death in 2004. The album finds Rick re-connecting with Daniel LeMelle, who worked with him on his early 1980s albums such as the multi-platinum Street Songs. Urban Rapsody combines funk and soul elements with contributions from rappers such as Snoop Dogg, Rappin' 4-Tay, and Neb Love, along with fellow R&B legend Charlie Wilson.
