“The Birth of a Nation: The Inspired By Album,” is the soundtrack to the 2016 film, “The Birth of a Nation.” It was released September 30, 2016. The album features a range of R & B and Hip Hop artists, including: Nas, Lil' Wayne, Pusha T, K. Michelle, Anthony Hamilton, Wale, Gucci Mane and more. The artists were given an opportunity to view the film before writing music to coincide with it. Director Nate Parker considered this to be a key aspect in drawing the attention of fans and making them curious to want to learn more, since viewing the film allowed the artists to truly express their thoughts of African American history and the culture’s contemporary status.
