Gravity - Lecrae
Gravity

Gravity is Lecrae’s sixth studio album, released on September 4, 2012. It was a major commercial breakthrough, peaking at no. 3 on the Billboard 200 and selling 72,000 copies in its first week, and it received general acclaim from critics. It is also considered to be more artistically advanced than his previous work, with Lecrae himself saying: Obviously, there’s more risk involved in terms of just making more mature music that’s not as straight [and] explicit. It’s dealing with bigger issues. People may have to think a little bit more. The production is a lot bigger and more advanced than it’s been. Lyrically, as an artist, I think I’ve written some of the best lyrics I’ve ever written. Four singles were released from Gravity, those being “I Know,” “Lord Have Mercy,” “Tell the World,” and “Mayday.” In hindsight, this has become one of the most important albums in Christian Hip Hop history, and even gave Lecrae has first Grammy – one for Best Gospel Album at the 55th Grammy Awards (the first hip hop album to win in the category).
