Following his escape from Death Row after one Dogg Pound album, Kurupt’s debut solo album Kuruption! was released on October 6, 1998 and was a double album split into an East Coast and West Coast disc. The East Coast disc, representing Kurupt’s Philly roots, featured production from Easy Mo Bee, Stevie J, and DeVante Swing and guest appearances from Buckshot and Noreaga. The West Coast disc featured production from Daz Dillinger, Dr. Dre, DJ Battlecat, Warren G, and Soopafly. The West Coast disc also featured the hit single “We Can Freak It,” which helped the album peak at #8 on the Billboard 200.
