Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family - Waka Flocka Flame
Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family

Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family marks Waka Flocka Flame’s second studio album, as a follow-up to Waka’s debut studio album, Flockaveli. It marks the rapper’s second and final release under 1017 Bricksquad and Asylym Records and the first under Bricksquad Monopoly. The album features a wide variety of guest verses, this time being more mainstream rappers, such as Drake, Nicki Minaj, Tyga, Meek Mill, and many more, with production being handled from fellow producers Lex Luger and Southside, both who return to help produce some of the tracks for the album, along with Honorable C.N.O.T.E., TM88, and many more. Following the success of Flockaveli, Waka became a central fugurehead of 1017 Bricksquad–a position also owning to the official head of the label Gucci Mane, becoming involved in many controversies and serving several prison sentences. In 2011, Waka expanded the 1017 Bricksquad roster, signing several new rappers to the label, including YG Hootie and Kebo Gotti. On the same year, Waka and Gucci released a collaboration album titled Ferrari Boyz, which received mixed reviews from critics, who felt that the two rappers' vastly contrasting lyrical styles clashed too much. In January of 2021, in an interview with radio presenter Bootleg Kev, Waka revealed the album’s title to be Triple F Life: Friends, Fans and Family. He elaborated on the title’s significance during his interview with XXL, stating that his own fans, family and friends had been the main inspirations towards recording his music since he began rapping. The album’s production took one-and-a-half to two months to record, and was originally meant to be released during 2011. However, Waka delayed the album’s release to 2012, as he felt it was rushed, revealing in an interview with Billboard magazine column “The Juice” that he “felt like I was trying to please the label and not the people that really listen to the music.” Waka spent the time between the release of Flockaveli and Triple F Life: Fans, Friends and Family identifying the unique aspects of his music and working to improve them, especially the ones that appealed to his fans. The death of Waka’s close friend and fellow 1017 Bricksquad member Slim Dunkin also caused the delay of the album’s release date, as he was too emotionally affected by the death to record any new material at the time. Waka would later dedicate the album to Dunkin, citing him as having had a special talent. Triple F was supported with three singles: 2011’s “Round of Applause” and 2012’s “I Don’t Really Care” and “Get Low”.
