Pentatonix - Pentatonix
Pentatonix

After four years of releasing mostly covers, Pentatonix went all-in for their self-titled full-length. The album consists of almost entirely original songs, with “If I Ever Fall In Love” being the only cover on the standard edition. The deluxe edition features six more covers and a remix of “Can’t Sleep Love,” the album’s lead single. The record was certified gold in February 2016, having sold 500,000 units. It also debuted on top of the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for thirty weeks. The album was well-received by critics and fans alike, and Matt Collar said in a review featured on All Music: By moving away from cover tunes, Pentatonix have helped push the a cappella style even further into the pop spotlight. That the only instruments they’ve used to do it are their voices makes their achievement all the more impressive.
