During the press week for the album, Wale did interviews with MTV, POWER 105.1’s The Breakfast Club and Real 92.3 LA. The title of the album, much like the Mixtape About Nothing and More About Nothing, are inspired by the pejorative “The Show About Nothing”, often used to describe the television series Seinfeld. A collaboration between Jerry Seinfeld and Wale was alluded to at the end of 2013’s, The Gifted, with an initial appearance from Seinfeld on “Black Heroes/Outro About Nothing”, previewing the album’s release with footage of the two in the studio. Prior to the album’s release, Wale and Jerry Seinfeld were featured in the cover story for the December 2014/January 2015 issue of Complex Magazine. The two would also record several videos for Complex where the two discuss life – the topics of conversation range from sneaker collections to strip clubs. In an interview with Cleveland.com, Wale elaborated on Seinfeld’s involvement with the project, saying He’s the narrator. He’s essentially like my conscience. You can look at him as kind of explaining what’s happening if you get lost during the story. He’ll come in and give you an update.
