In 2010, B.o.B launched his debut album B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. “B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray is an album that basically tells my life story”, the rapper says. “Not necessarily, like, in linear fashion […], but it’s a story in terms of emotion and the journeys that I’ve taken through music and the experiences that I’ve gained through my life.” He also explained the cinematic album title: “It would appear that it’s the most crazy now, but my life has just been crazy from the time I came out the womb to now. I’m never really thrown out of my comfort zone by just craziness because I’m so familiar with it. So the album reflects that, it portrays that, which is why it’s such an adventure. I’m telling you, man, it’s been an adventure, like, really, you know. I’m not talking about going through a jungle, I’m talking about leaping over cliffs, like, ‘Whoa, almost fell, almost died’.” The record shows Bobby expressing his more poppy side and this led to two huge lead singles, being “Airplanes” and “Nothin' On You”. The third single “Magic” was also a big success. The album went #1 on the Billboard Top 200 in its first week with 84,000 sold copies and spent 29 weeks in the charts.
